The spaces that appealed to me this week all seem to have a little quirkiness to them, I must be going through another “wacky is wonderful” design stage, This happens to me every now and then when I’ve worked on one too many boring all white interior projects, or when a client asks me for something beige… and my eyebrow starts to twitch.
This space could easily have fallen into the plain jane category if it wasn’t for those gorgeous oversized lights. Timber , black and white is always on trend but those lights shift this room from nice to SEXY
Oh and I read a couple of articles that came across my desktop worth mentioning.
Got a small (i mean tiny!) studio or apartment? this article is for you. Have you got lots of knick knacks…and stuff? the apartment featured here is full of things from all over the world, my little house is quite similar actually with little treasures I have picked up over the years travelling, it can be hard to display them without cluttering a space but it can be done with some planning.
Warner music have a new office space that has been well designed in a warehouse type of set up, I could happily work in this space- which is how i evaluate good commercial design- would I be willing to go to work here day in day out? yes = well designed.
It is a long weekend here in Darwin this weekend and in true darwin style it has been jam packed full of events whilst other weekends have absolutely ZILCH happening – well down Darwin City Council / NT Gov you really fucked that up didn’t you?
If you are languishing at home wondering what to do there is somethign wrong with you, your choices are: The Darwinlife magazine home and lifestyle expo, the Nightlcliff seabreeze festival that the fella and I checked out lastnight where we had some good market food and listened to a great local performer whose name I was going to remember and feature here, but of course I’ve forgotten , then theres Kamfari if adrenaline fueled motor sports and mud are your thing and lastly the Taste festival that I am headed to in a few hours to, you know…taste stuff. Mostly wine.
