Sunday session 17.4.16 ‘The wedding edition’

Thank you to everyone who has sent well wishes our way before, during and since our wedding, you are all beautiful people.

“Confessions of a newly wedded woman” post is still to come. I have been saving little tid bits of info and naughty confessions that I want to share now that someone is legally compelled to love me no matter what …. Yes, marriage is a wonderful thing.

Copy of wedding speech below as I am so proud of everyone involved in our special day.

Thank you

Firstly to my family for making me the person I am, for always supporting me and putting up with my demands, always encouraging me to be myself and speak my mind, (whether or not they liked it at the time). I have come to realise that I might not have been easy to live with in my younger years so thank you for your unwavering love and for putting up with me with such good humour. Some family couldn’t be here today but have sent wishes so I feel surrounded by love from all over.

My bridesmaids: For being my girlies over the years and for all of the laughs and bitch tests and for just being my rocks between school, boys and life in general. The years have flown by wit you girls because we are all so different but we work together so well.

Steve’s family & friends: Thank you for bringing up or moulding him into such a loveable, unique and fun man who i stumbled across and couldn’t help but love and think the world of,  In spite of some horrible stories that I have since heard from his younger days I feel very lucky to be the girl who he chose to be with always and I think he comes with a great group of people.

My workmates: You guys have become my other family and for most of the time I have know you we have argued and bitched at each other but after so long i think we have fought our way through to the point of finally getting along and accepting each other for who we each are so thank you for pushing my buttons but also looking out for me so that I have always felt like someone had my back.

Extended friends: It is hard to thank everyone as you are all so varied and have come into each of our lives at different stages but you are all very much loved and here today for a reason as you are an important part of our life and we hope you will support our marriage for as long as we are all in touch whether near or far.

Crew of brothers: Aside from my own brother Vin and my new brother Tommy I feel lucky to have a crew of “other brothers’ – good friends who are now family and who have always been around when I needed them, entertained us all to no end and chaperoned me when required. It is hard to match the love that I have for my brother as he has been my favourite person in this world for so long but you all sit very close in my heart and I am so glad that you all accepted and loved steve as much as I did so instead of chasing him away you welcomed him into our circle and now we have a huge group of friends, some of  who are meeting each other for the first time so please welcome each other like long lost family.

To Rhys: a dear friend who was lost to the sea the year before I met steve. I owe Rhys a special gratitude that I want to make mention of. If not for Rhys telling me to see the good in ‘rough diamonds’ and to get over myself and consider dating guys who were “not my type” (whatever I thought that was at the time),  I might never have given steve a chance so I am forever grateful to Rhys and his good advice, when I met Steve he instantly reminded me of my old friend, i felt like I had met my match all over again and both of them have made me laugh like none else.

So to my husband: I don’t need to tell you how much you are loved because you know that but I want to thank you for being you and for seeing the real me. I promise to spend the rest of our days trying to make you as happy as you make me and i look forward to many adventures to come as I know that our life will never be boring and always be wild.

Thank you to all of our family and friends who are so each such truly amazing individuals, especially our bridal party and those who travelled to share the day with us, you guys make us rich with your treasured company and we feel blessed to have you in our lives. Gushy? Yes I am all loved up.

A very special thank you to George of George F Photography who captured these fleeting moments in time for us forever.  Angie Barker of Faces Artistry, the team at Idiom hair and Beauty, the team at Evas botanical gardens cafe for catering and hosting our day, My friends Tommos’ Pies who kindly gifted us their amazing pies as late night snacks, Little Miss Chef who made our towering Croquembouche, Max Fredericks  our music man extraordinaire, Brian Morgan of Clada Ceremonies for personalising the perfect ceremony for us & my new friend – wearable artist Carmel Ryan who hand embellished, customised and lovingly sewed lace flowers onto a simple dress that I designed, turning it from simple lace into a fantasy fit for a princess. Also my dear friend Flo for keeping the day running smoothly and of course, my dearest mother who handmade all of the pretty ceramic decorations, vintage lace table runners helped pick all of the finer details and generally put up with my selfishness like the goddess queen that she is.

Next week I will be back to talking about homes, interiors and design. I will be bitching about clients and builders and beige uhhhhhh! but for now I am still loved up and living in my own fairytale.
