Sunday session 12.4.15

Hello from sunny Darwin! I feel very cheerful this weekend as I have been reminded that I am lucky to live in a stunningly simple little town town full of natural beauty and as much free happiness as anyone could ask for. I hope wherever you are reading this from you feel the same.

I took these photos yesterday when I went for a quick little walk along my home stretch of beach to inspire myself after several early morning hours spent at my computer and sketching plans. 15 minutes of this view and I was re inspired and brimming with ideas – that is the best kind of feeling isn’t it? when your mind is abuzz with ‘what if’s’ and ‘hows’ and you have to quickly write it all down in a hurry before the feeling subsides so you don’t forget a single idea!

Ok onto the business side of things now. I have had a brilliant idea that I am going to put into play next weekend. Well I am going to begin to put it into play (I am a procrastinator so these things take time) I am going to see clients at home once a month on saturday mornings (also know as Parap market mornings if you are in Darwin) so I figure instead of driving all over the town wasting my precious time every  saturday I can instead invite people to book consultations to come in and  go over their project brief and then I can provide them a quote at the same time. I obviously will still be inspecting houses every other saturday morning but this will just give me an opportunity to make bulk appointments one day a month and hopefully save me some time as I am feeling VERY time poor and busy. Plus I have a little house that I am proud of (my work in progress that is constantly “nearly finished” if you ask me) so why not show it off to clients and invite you in to my little patio “micro studio” to see what I get to see everyday.

Anyway on to other things- Take a look at this Cairns treetop home  I found, we are still looking at real estate over there after a few dream homes we were after have fallen through. Look at this one- I could be very happy here with the fella. It’s not currently for sale however…minor problem. 39d31bb3-4ad4-4654-9567-4b1e3153e4ad.1.10

In colour news I selected this gorgeous colour from Haymes paint  for a client this week using the sunset as my inspiration. I teamed it with some lemon throws, cushions and artwork to revamp the already lovely house with an even better view, Can’t wait to see the end result as it’s gonna be pretty damn snazzy!

Ok so maybe I’m not doing the actual shelving part but I designed the whole goddamn thing and I am very good at hovering over the fellas shoulder giving helpful bits of advice like “I don’t think thats quite straight?” or “how far do you have to drill it in?”. He is a good man to put up with me.

In architecture news I found and loved this elegant, understated and simple house by Windust Architects (who I had never heard of but now quite admire) as featured in Habitus magazine, you can read the full wrap up here.

This other home (also by the clever folk over at Windust) which is in Blairgowrie on the Mornington Peninsula, it also caught my attention as that is somewhere I will build a house in one day as the fella originated from a lovely little spot not far from there, nestled in amongst the vineyards…right where I belong.

And lastly some kitchen inspo ‘cos I seem to be surrounded by kitchen projects this month…actually this YEAR. I’m not complaining… I lovvvvve kitchen design and I will never tire of it…. famous last words?
