Sunday session 20.4.14

It’s easter this weekend (incase you didn’t notice) but all this means to me is a lovely long weekend and time to do more design browsing and day dreaming….what I do best.

Some results of said browsing are these spaces that inspire me:

Love the alluring teal colour sofa, a bold move choosing such a strong colour for a sofa but it works well in an otherwise fairly tranquil neutral room Another bold sofa choice teamed with a bold rug, this place appeals to me for its quirkiness- I love zigzags

Love the rustic charm this house oozes- the glamour of the high back sofa, the rawness of the timber and cane blinds mixed with some classical styled country chic in the colourings and ‘ head of table’ chairs

bizarre
This room is just bizarre! The furniture is elegant, the wall paper over the top yet gorgeous. I could curl up on that daybed and never leave

I am a little bit obsessed with maps on walls, have been for a little while since I saw a living room that’s every wall space was filled with maps of places the owners had been too. This space works well due to its simplicity i think, if the room didn’t have such sparse furnishings the maps could overpower the space.

This Parisian home caught my eye as it doesn’t fit the image I have in my mind of how homes in Paris look. It isn’t light filled and white with luxurious drapes and prettiness every way you turn, infact it is pretty industrial and street smart slick but still has all the bits and pieces that make a space feel homely and inviting.

It is no secret that i am a big fan of concrete and this kitchen is a perfect example of why i like it so much- it creates an industrial raw image that is the perfect backdrop for a kitchen full of personal items, pictures and momento's without looking too cluttered

Barbara Panizza is a designer I came across yesterday, i read an article in a real living magazine featuring her Italian home which she also works from. You can see more of her home and the many magazines that have featured it on her website linked to her name earlier.

I came across a few blogs that have now been bookmarked, the first (and one that has not taken up hours of my time reading through) is The glow which is described as “a glimpse into the world of fashionable mothers” and features all sorts of creative types who haven’t lost sight of who they are and what they are passionate about even though they have small children. This blog appeals to me as I CANNOT stand women who become mothers and then become fully focused and obsessed with every aspect of their children and then bore the rest of us to death with stories of toilet training and sleepless nights that noone gives a shit about unless it is your own child. I vow never to become one of those mothers, my passions and interests will always be what drives me and i look forward to the day when  children just add to that, not take over as my sole focus.

The other blog actually involves children – see i am not a child hater ALL of the time, this blog by a gorgeous lady who further proves that having children doesn’t mean stopping what you have always done and turning into a slave to a dribbling / screaming mess that calls you mum, this former stylist has transformed her love of fashion into a blog that is filled with lovely things and photography with children styled by her amongst snippets of her everyday life and the things she likes…which just happen to be all lot of the things that I also like, see below just some of these things…children gypsy nursery

The last blog that is taking up my time (for today) is Lveland which is pretty much just a mash up of all things gorgeous, pretty, clever and lustful all rolled into a fab blog- you should head over there for a look immediately. Right after you stuff yourself with an easter feast followed by too much wine and some chocolates which is exactly what i will be doing this afternoon at my dear Nan’s house for high tea at 3. Happy happy easter to you! x white rabbit easter image
