Sunday session 12.6.16 “whinging”

Things you should not say to a person providing design services to you, Namely me if you want us to continue to get along. I am having a busy week, please bare with me while I publicly whinge.

Client (After announcing the branding and signage need to match): “Didn’t I tell you I changed the colours?, I’ll send you the new ones now… Is that going to be a problem?”

For a roughly 3 million dollar project “Well I have a budget of 1 million… but that’s for the entire project..including building works and your fees.”

“Oh no we aren’t starting building works until next year” After requesting a detailed quote within 24 hours. WTF?!

“We don’t have building permits but I’m sure it’s fine to start anyway.” As I booked the tilers. Idiots.

On a Friday afternoon of a long weekend: “Can you have it to me by Monday?”

Regarding furniture with a 14 week lead-time:  “Can we airfreight it (from Italy) for the same price?”

“When you say ‘teal’ do you mean orangish yellow?, Yes I like that.” (I have no words left for this particular client. )

A loaded and very dangerous question to ask a busy person: “Oh ok…(said with a phoney concerned face) Can’t you do it sooner?”. No, no I can’t I told you I am fully booked this month when you asked me to help you with your reno.

“Why do I have to pay extra for plans?” (Silly, Just silly)

A text message received:  “I emailed you this morning, did you see it?” Just go away.

People are stupid

As you can probably tell I am having an impatient and yes, a busy week and it might be starting to wear thin. I love my job most days but at the moment I feel like tearing all the plans on my desk up into tiny little pieces and dancing under them as they flutter to the floor.

Thank goodness the dry season has arrived and I have a holiday to wine country booked as something to look forward to is all I can say. I need to cut back on hours, or projects, or working with stupid people. Or all of the above.

Aside from my whinging here are some things to inspire you on this sunny sunday:

Hamptons home wares. I know Hamptons style is nt for everyone but I live by the sea and I like blue and white ok so it’s  a winner in my book, just a little overused my wannabe-posh-housewives the world over.

Online shopping – because why not.

A bower birds cottage full of treasures.

Happy weekend to you!
