2.4.17 ‘Give me strength or inspiration!’

I have been needing some inspiration this week to keep me going after suddenly realising it is basically April and I been busy all year but somehow have not yet found my fortune in the design world OR got rich trying.

In fact quite the opposite, I seem to have fallen so far down the rabbit hole of juggling projects that I don’t have time to self spruik and generate any interest in exciting new projects while I tumble through the deadlines, quotes and mess of existing projects, all the while wondering where the hell I am going to find the time to get around to the late invoicing of the jobs I completed as far back as January. I need an assistant! …but know full well that I am too much of a control freak to share any of my work around.

My current view… peering out from the rabbit hole that is my current creative life! 😉

Whenever I feel overwhelmed with work or like the jobs that I have on are consuming my life I try to take some time out to do some general design browsing, see what product designers are doing, check out the latest design shows or furniture fairs around the globe, read up on an artist I have never heard of before, I always feel better after doing what I call “design daydreaming” which is basically just wasting time that I don’t have but it reminds me that I work in a creative industry that I love, I work alongside architects and tradesmen who are (mostly) as passionate as I am and who appreciate form and function, who strive for excellence in all areas so I tell myself that I am lucky that I have the freedom to take on the projects that I am drawn to.

These pieces have kept me sane this week because of their beauty or practicality (Contact me for details on any pieces that appeal to you.)
